EVERYTHING IS NEW AGAIN...HAPPY SPRING!

Mom was discharged from Home Health this week.
She is functioning, more or less, as she was before the hospital stay.
Most of the credit goes to her physical therapist,
Celina Thompson.
We had nurses, aids, other therapist in and out, but hands down
Celina was the most helpful and valuable.
She gave me a wealth of practical information
as well as making recommendations of tools I could use.

Now that the weather is finally warmer,
I've started getting our patio ready for
outdoor sitting. I haven't bought many plants yet
because I've been waiting to see what comes
back on its own. I picked up some cheap cushions
from Walmart that will work fine for us this year.

My little flower garden is coming back to life as well.

So far, I've only added a few zinnia plants
and a couple of lantana.

I've moved some things around
and divided some lilies.

Yesterday I started my vegetable garden,
planted some yellow squash, zucchini
and five tomato plants.

MARCH MADNESS

Today is the first day of Spring, March marks my entrance
to my third year of caring for Mom.  She has vascular dementia.
She was recently admitted to the hospital for a bad UTI,
then a month in a skilled care facility for some recovery time.
Now she is home again, but I fear not the same.

She is extremely week and can not focus.
In the past when she would get up for the day she would have
such a sweet countenance..."looks like a pretty day" ,that is no longer the case.  It may change with some time and some healing
but I need to wrap my head around the fact that this may be our new reality.

Can I just say, I don't like it.
I find myself getting frustrated with her and making myself angry.
I can't understand the fact that she can't understand.
It is sometimes like I am speaking a foreign language to her.

Send me your good thoughts, your good wishes,
your prayers, your good karma, your happy thoughts.
Whatever you believe in...I'll take it.

I don't want to be
ANGRY GIRL

Thank God Spring is here!

BLACKBERRY WINTER

Spring has come to us here in Fayetteville
but it didn't stay long.  It seems
we are now in Blackberry Winter.

We are trying to take full advantage of
our days when we are forced to be inside.
Dad has put up a shelf in our laundry room
which I requested.  I found this great old
board in our old storage shack,
after a little clean up and some Liquid Gold,
it was perfect.

I've been doing a little crafting.
This is a wreath I made using
pine cones.

I like it.

Spring is my favorite season.
I so enjoy just strolling around the property
and seeing what nature has provided.
Lately the honeysuckle has been in bloom
as well as all kinds of wildflowers.

We have started our garden, but it's
not much to look at just yet.
This little plant slept in the garage
over the winter, I can't believe it
survived.

Until it's warm again...
we wait.
